cHALLENGE:

In 2023, Inner Circle Consulting worked alongside LB Lewisham to develop a new approach to understanding the risks within their portfolio of small sites to better prioritise them for housing delivery. This resulted in the beta version of what is now called the Small Sites Toolkit, which allows users to quantify site risks in a consistent way, resulting in an output that is tied to a recommended delivery route based on said risk profile.  

IMPACT:

Upon the announcement of the GLA’s most recent round of Small Sites, Small Builders funding programme, LB Camden brought ICC in to support the bid writing, based on a proposal to adapt the Toolkit to the borough’s particular appetites for risks, and further support the recommended delivery route output through extensive market engagement with locally active RPs and CLH organisations. The project has provided Camden with the tools to make informed decisions about their sites early in the process, thus saving resource over the longer-term. This work won the 2024 Planning & Placemaking award for Increased Housing Delivery.
