cHALLENGE:

In 2022, Southwark Council engaged ICC to undertake a comprehensive current state analysis of its corporate services. The Council was seeking to better understand and ensure organisational readiness for delivery of an ambitious improvement agenda for the Borough. ​

IMPACT:

Drawing on available data, local intelligence, and sector experience, ICC undertook a comprehensive current state analysis at pace. ​

The review focused on the configuration and maturity of the Council’s critical corporate functions, spanning: strategy and policy development; transformation and PMO; business intelligence; customer service; administration and business support; technology; and asset management and estate. ​

Deliverables and benefits​:

Through deep collaboration with the Council, the final analysis provided Southwark with: ​

  • A detailed breakdown of baseline spend and current resources across each corporate function.

  • Benchmarking of performance with comparable and high-performing authorities.

  • An evidence-based and insight-driven maturity assessment for each function.

  • Recommendations for the Council’s consideration to action improvement opportunities identified through the review.
